E5-575-33bm laggy bad touchpad

Hi, it is my second day with my E5-575-33bm.  My touchpad is slow and lags across the screen.  Sometimes it won't respond for half a second but will after I do the same direction.  I see the problem happen the most when moving across the screen and trying to drag a window bar down.  Multi-touch scrolling seems to work. 

I tried to change my BIOS setting for the touchpad to Basic but obviously will lose multi-touch.  It's moving better and at a constant speed and doesn't seem to be losing response  but the speed is slow and can't be changed.

I notice that CPU usage will jump up by ~15% when using the touchpad.

I have the most up to date drivers for the touchpad.

Is something wrong with my hardware?  Should I return and try to roll the dice?  Is there an alternative driver anyone recommends?
