How do I control the Intel graphics options on HDMI video out?

Trying to see why there is a difference when using an Acer R240 monitor on my Acer E5-575 laptop.  I get a difference in screen quality between HDMI out and VGA out.  I have bought two of these monitors and want the excellent output that the VGA output gives versus the HDMI output. 

How do I access options for the Intel graphics card?  Read that the card may be sending television quality to the monitor versus graphics quality.  How do I access these options?
