E5-575-33BM auto repair?

Hello, I'm a newbie to this forum so forgive me if I violale any protocals.  I'm at my wits end and desperatley need some guidance.

After reading many reviews for the Aspire E5-575-33BM and some articles providing guidance on how to quickly upgrade RAM and install a SSD, I decided to ignore that voice inside my head that kept saying "spend more money - it can't be that easy" and go for it. A decision I am increasingly regretting... going on 3 days now. Since undertaking this venture I've read so many suggestions and watched so many vidoes that my head is spinning. Each providing a hint of what to try next but none that seemed to provide the "start to finish" guidance I was hoping for. I'm sure this is because of my inexperience and not the quality of the help provided by the articles.

My goal was to install the SSD in my new E5-575-33BM and use the 1TB HDD that came with the laptop for storage. I also wanted to add an additional 4GB of Ram - that part went well I'm happy to say.

Current results: I have 8 GB RAM installed and working without issues.

I have a 275GB Crucial MX300 SATA M.2 2280SS SSD installed and working fine only if the original HDD is not installed. If the 1TB HDD is installed, I get a message on start up something similar to "Preparing Auto repair..". I then have to enter the Advanced Recovery option and select the USB option. I ultimatley have to select option 2 in the boot manager to boot up on the SSD. It took some effort but the SSD is the C drive and the HDD is the E drive. So at least that part looks OK.

How I got here: The first thing I did was to make a recovery thumbdrive. Then I installed the RAM and the SSD. I attempted to clone the HDD to the SSD using the softwate that came with the SSD. The name of the software begins with an "A" - not sure if I can mention names. That didn't work so I downloaded software (starts with an "M") that allowed me to clone the drives. I changed the bios to boot up on the SSD but I wasn't convinced it was booting up on the SSD because the start time was better but it still took a while to get past the password screen (as compared to not having the HDD installed) and when  I attempted to format the HDD Windows wouldn't let me. I had to format it using an external device. But now when the SSD and HDD are installed, I get the "Preparing Auto Repair" message.

Not sure where to go from here.

BTW - As I proof read this post, I had to laugh because, to a newbie (me) it looks as though I have a working knowledge of the topic - but don't let that fool you.  Any guidance would be appreciated but please speak slowly - Smiley Happy

Acer Aspire E 15, E5-574 not switching on

Hello guys,
I purchased an Acer Aspire E15, E5-574 a year and a half ago and it was working fine until today.
As I was skyping my brother today the laptop blacked out and shut down instantly. This was right at the moment when I was trying to insert my speaker's jack into it's place but not paying attention I missed the spot and tried to put it in the USB port. However, the jack did not even go inside properly and as soon as I pulled it out the laptop shut down on it's own. Now the laptop is not even charging and does not even turn on at all. I tried to hold the power button multiple times (with and without the AC charger), but to no avail. I'm not exactly sure if the laptop shut down because of the USB port thing, or because of some internal problem.
The battery is the unremovable one and I don't know what to do now as I can't afford the repair costs Smiley Sad I even tried to unscrew the back cover, but even after all the screws came out, the back cover was too firm to come out so I did not force it much in fear that I would cause further damage.

Any help to fix my laptop would be seriously appreciated. Thank you!

Realtek High Definition Audio Problem - Acer Aspire E 14 E5-473T-3860

Hi, I just recently reset my laptop to factory settings and my sound is not working now. It was working fine before I reset my laptop so I'm sure it's not a problem with anything inside of the laptop. This happened once before where my sound just stopped working so I clicked on "Troubleshoot sound problems" and that made my sound work again. This time around after I reset my laptop, I tried that option but it didn't work. Some solutions I tried that didn't work are:

1) Device Manager > Left click Realtek High Definition Audio > Update Driver, and it said the best driver is already installed.

2) Speaker Properties > Enhancements > Disable all sound effects, and it didn't change anything.

3) Troubleshoot Sound Problems > It gave me the option to reinstall current audio driver automatically then restart laptop and didn't work as well.

Could someone help me with my problem and is there any basic audio features (like unmuting volume) I should double check?

Thanks

5 months - very light use at home only. Never hot - was using it in a very cool location power went off.

I rebooed and power went off a few minutes later. (battery charged and AC power in). third reboot... a few minutes later power went off.

Now when I go to boot it I get a LOUD fan noise (Louder than I ever heard before). and all the keyboard lights up and that's it.  BLACK SCREEN.  Just sits and blows.   something simple?

E5-575-54E8 not charging even though charging light on

My E5-575-54E8 doesn't charge the non removable battery even though the charging lights comes on and the display shows it's charging. After some minutes, windows 10 informs me that battery's running low and that I should plug in the charger, but it's already plugged so I unplug  and plug it back again and the battery continues to drain until it dies off, and won't even stay on even though it's plugged in until after a while.  I got a new charger and same problem.  Then,  without any notice,  it starts charging again normally and it works fine for a week or so, but then it does it again.  It seems like if I let it sit for more then a day unused,  I get that charging problem. Any ideas? Thanks

What type of m.2 SSD does my Acer Aspire F5-573-50JZ support

What type of m.2 SSD does my Acer Aspire F5-573-50JZ support? I'm running Win7 Pro and currently have a 1TB HDD with 32GB of RAM.  I want to add a m.2 SSD for the OS and keep my HDD for data files.  I ran HWiNFO64 and the PCI Express Root Port 9 shows 2.x and PCI Express 3.0.  So will one of the m.2 SSD cards from Crucial, Samsung or WD work for me and what can I expect as far as speed/performance increase over my current HDD for boot time and apps opening, etc?  Any info is much appreciated.

Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM audio default settings and levels?

$

The audio I/O on my E 15 worked fine out of the box for audio playback, Cortana control, and online gaming voice chat. The speakers are a bit quiet, so I left them at 100% in the taskbar and tweaked the output levels on a per-app basis as needed. I just picked up a set of gaming headphones that connect via the combined 1/8" I/O on the right side near the USB port and tweaked some of the levels in the mixer trying to get stronger input. Now, "Hey, Cortana" doesn't work at all even using the built-in mic (Cortana doesn't respond to voice if cued manually either), and the audio has an awful tinny echo above 50% that gets worse the higher I set the output level. This occurs whether I'm using the speakers or the headphones. I have two questions:

First, what should I set in the audio devices options to bring them back to what they were before? e.g. levels, 'listen through this device', things like that. I'd like to go back to the original settings as a starting point to work from, but unfortunately I didn't write down the original settings. Second, in the recording devices options, I have the microphone device and stereo mix device. Which should I be adjusting for the input? Is one for the built-in mic and the other for the line-in mic, or does one of the devices manage the sound levels for both microphones? If that's the case, what's the purpose of the other one?

Let me know if there's anything that I need to clarify in this question. Thanks!
