I purchased Acer laptop 2 days ago. Initially the laptop was starting fine. On the first day I left laptop shut down for one hour and again when I started the laptop a black overlay is displaying on the screen, though I can see that in background laptop started successfully.

I tried to restart forcefully many times but the problem remain same.
The only option working is system restore.

Is there any issue with monitor screen.?

Please help me on this.

Drivers AMD freeze laptop during installation

Hi.

I'm having some issues with my Acer Aspire E1-572G with amd graphic card Radeon R7 m265.

I downloaded the drivers form AMD website since Acer don't have that drive for Windows 10 in the website.

So in the installation the laptop freezes during the step of installing the driver.

Already try to make a fresh install of the driver+catalyst and nothing.

The only way to work is installing the drivers from Windows Update (Acer way) and then download from the internet a very old version of Catalyst Center (ONLY).

But I need the most recent Crimson because I have some SDK only work on that versions.

Something is strange! I have this laptop 3 years ago and this appens since I buy it!

And don't stop only with that, when I install the drivers (Acer way) the laptop can´t shutdown correctly and become slow. (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/Sleep-and-Shutdown-issues-after-upgrading-to-Windows-10/td-p/5177663)

Why Acer have the correct and most recent drivers on Windows Update but that don't came with a Control Center?

Battery not charging

I have an acer aspire v3-371 since two years.
When I insert the charger in my computern, it indicates that the battery is recharging but the percentage doesn't increase. When the charger is inserted in my computer and I use my computer the percentage also doesn't decrease and of course when the charger isn't inserted the percentage does decrease.

BIOS and Windows don't see additional RAM, CPU-Z and Speccy do - Aspire V5-573PG

Howdy Acer community,

I've got a conundrum regarding an Aspire V5-573PG. Since it's getting on in years (read: out of warranty) but is otherwise a good work/mild gaming laptop, I decided to boost the RAM from 8GB to 12GB. This model's listed maximum RAM is 12GB, since 4GB is soldered to the motherboard and there is one socket for a SODIMM. It has been upgraded to Windows 10 Home with no other driver or hardware problems.

Originally, I bought an 8GB Crucial DDR3L (1.35 V) 1600 MHz stick. This is the same speed and voltage as the OEM SK Hynix stick that's originally included. Howevever, when I installed it, it wasn't recognized by either the BIOS or Windows. After upgrading the BIOS to the latest version and some troubleshooting (cleaning the socket, making sure maximum memory wasn't enabled in windows, etc), I figured the stick was a dud and returned it.

In this process, I also noticed that the RAM socket has "1.5 V" printed on it, so decided to try a slower (1333 MHz Corsair value-ram) 1.5V stick to see if there was a difference, but the same problem occurs. This time, I decided to download CPU-Z and Speccy to generate reports. Interestingly, the RAM is recognized by both programs but isn't seen by the BIOS or Windows. I know both CPU-Z and Speccy just look at the SPD info, but it makes me think that somehow this can be solved!

Important note: the socket isn't dead - I can put the OEM 4GB stick back in, and it's recognized without any issues.

TLDR of things I've tried:

-"Maximum memory" in Windows is not enabled. Yes, it is 64-bit.

-Upgrading the BIOS (current ver: InsydeH20 2.30) to the most recent provided by Acer.

-Unlocked the advanced configuration in the BIOS (Fn+Tab method) and spent about two days playing around with chipset/CPU settings. Changing XMP profile settings, memory timings, and base memory frequency don't help.

-The BIOS doesn't seem to have a memory hole remapping option. Maybe it's under another name?

-I've heard things about bent CPU pins causing issues, but I think the CPU is soldered to the motherboard anyway.

I might be able to borrow another laptop to test the Corsair stick, but don't have that information at the moment.

Anyone able to shed some insight?

Can't boot to BISO Model: ES1-533-P7T9

Recently I bought a refub one from littlewoods UK.

When I unboxed it yesterday it worked running all initial settings in windows 10 just fine.

But soon I found that the battery seemed to be dead duo to possibly sitting in the box for too long.

(it does not charge any after 1 hour at 1% all the time)

So I put it into "sleep mode" (I guess I'm wrong from here),

disassembled everything and replaced a 8G ram & SSD,

then plugged in AC (without battery) then it's totally dead.

Can't get in BISO and nothing shows up on screen.

All I get is that the CPU fan is running full speed after powering up.

(I did replaced new thermal gel but still the same not likely to be overheating)

I tried the 30-second powerbutton jump reset method but still the same,

anyone help please thank you for reading this message.

-update

I plugged another functioning battery then turned on(without AC), the orange light kept blinking still not turning on.

V3-574G with F5-571G bios / vbios question

Hi,

I have Bios v1.35 on my V3-574G. Release is about a vbios update for N16V-GM and I just descover "N16V-GM" means nvidia 920m. But my laptopt runs with a 940m...

1- Is there a 2nd vbios for 940m in the bios or am I runing a graphic card with the wrong vbios ?

2- Searching a bit I found that F5-571G model uses the same bios (v1.35 bios for both are binary equals). But F5-571G does have a newer bios v1.37 with this changelog : 1. Update N16S-GT 4G vbios to 82.08.46.00.44 ; 2. Update brightness table

N16S-GT means 940m ... but I don't know what is the "4G". Acer's changelogs are very explicits...

I wonder if it's a good idea to update my bios with the latest from F5-571G ?

Thanks

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM At Walmart or Target?

I am reading good things about the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM). I know that retail stores sell models that are identical to the ones that may be on the Acer website. I am trying to find out if Target or Walmart sells the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) under maybe a different model number but with the EXACT same technical specifications as the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM)  Can you help? TIA.

Acer ES1-432 can not install ANY OS other than Windows

I really have a nightmare experience with this Acer ES1-432 laptop.

Here is what I experience:

The laptop Bios version is 1.13 and there is no option to choose efi boot. I can only disable Secure boot to boot from USB.

After succeeding installing Arch linux and grub from usb using UEFI bootloader, when reboot from harddisk, the laptop say: No bootable device.

Very nice!

I use another usb to install win10 and thing is fine.

Now I want to dual boot, so I install Arch linux together with windows.

After tweaking around, I have dual boot by putting

\EFI\Linux\BOOTX64.efi ( Arch Linux)

together with

\EFI\Microsoft\...

I try to boot Arch Linux from harddisk by pressing F12, thing is excellent. I can choose Arch or Windows.

Now I try to boot from Win10 (by pressing F12), thing is excellent too!

Then it comes to the worst part: After booting window and shut down, there is NO Arch Linux option when pressing F12, only Windows remain!

I try to boot from livecd, reinstall grub again, and I can dual boot, but each and everytime booting from Windows, the linux boot option is gone when pressing F12!

Any one experience the same issue? Please help me to boot from any OS other than Windows.

Defective Batt' > Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-58XS

Purchased  unit from local Acer  vendor this past Sunday

Before turning on, followed (online) manual recommendation for optimizing Batt'.

Full charge (blue light _#1) then turn on to initialize Win10  . . . . Batt' live stated 9hrs.,

Ran down Batt' to approx. 22% (using continuous Y'Tube vid series)

Turned unit off for Full charge (#2)  . . .  turn on,   Batt' live stated 3.5hrs !!

Again ran down Batt' to approx. 20% (using continuous Y'Tube vid series)

Turned unit off for Full charge (#3) . . . . . turn on,   Batt' live stated again only 3.5 hrs contrary to  a Acer declared "12hrs long battery life" Batt' .

Called Acer support right-a-way Tues p.m.  described twice (CSR spoke good english but seemed to have problem processing my stated sequence and results).

HE defined/ agreed to defective Batt'.

But did not think much of my idea for them to 'dropship' a new Batt' to my location.   Instead offered that I ship the unit to them for diag' & repair if req'd.

I stated NOT a option, since vendor has 14 day cust. satisfaction full refund o exchange policy.

I opted for that one returning unit with declared defective batt' (aka manufacturer's defect) and acquiring a new unit this a.m.

! Alas this second unit NOT off to a great 'start' either ......

Full charge>Batt' life after initializing Win10 = only 4hrs  !!  then while doing run-down of Batt' using Y'tube again  saw it jump up to 5+ hrs  ??! )

Hoping (word store management also used when i was doing 'exchange'), that it improves in next couple more batt' optimization processes,  or else this one goes back and acquire a 3rd unit which they said they did have,  . . . .  after the long-winded "reset pc> ..... remove everything" Win' utility accomplished,  of course.

! Not going to waste time starting to tweak this unit to personal interests till confimred a 'keeper'    Smiley Wink

nite,

D'

p.s. Acer seems to have hot power adapter problem fixed, with these "date code" 17** series !!  Saw this problem mentioned in various reviews.     Alas we now seem to have defective Batt's  installed into what seems to be a fantastic configuration/bod' . . . . .
