Acer Aspire ES1-512 Help

How can a new laptop be so unbelievably bad right out of the box??? Acer, I used to think you meant Quality!!

I just bought one of these new off the internet for my mother-in-law. Normally, as the joke would go, its slow so that should annoy the mother-in-law. But no, it has annoyed me no end. First, I wiped the hard drive to get rid of all the bundleware crap that acer put on it. That should help surely! Well, I install a clean Win 10 but its still slow and freezes and hangs. OK, OK, how about I invest another £45 in a small SSD that HAS to fix this, right? Well....a bit, but its STILL slow. I mean, having a clean install on a new ssd and no excess baggage running, I install firefox and even that takes about 20 seconds to open...seriously?? And another soul destroyer, when you click in the google search box and start automatically typing and nothing happens for 10 seconds before a few of the first letters appear and a few more seconds to complete the search that you finished typing 15 seconds ago. I mean ACER !!!! :fou:

Sometimes my computer will randomly blue screen with one of these two bsods.

E5-774g IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL

or

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I can't seem to get to the bottom of this with tools like whocrashed or bluescreenview as they both put the blame on the windows operating system.  This is my second unit after an RMA back in december however I still see this issue with the new unit.  It doesn't happen often maybe once or twice a month but I really would like my system to be stable for once.

Any info you can shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated since I use this laptop for school and need it functioning correctlyscreenshot.2.jpgscreenshot.3.jpg

There was an instance from back in february too but the dump file was missing so it didn't show up here

Aspire E5-473 secondary Hdd problem

Hi,

I have updated my laptop internal 1tb HDD with a 250gb SSD. Everything's fine with that, but the issue starts when I try to install the original 1tb HDD in the side bay using a HDD Sata Caddy.

First of all, in the bios and boot setting the HDD is nowhere to be seen. And then when I boot to the OS (Win10pro) from the SSD I can see the HDD with no problem, I can navigate folders and all. But after a brief time of viewing photos, or reding data the disk starts to kind of get stuck and also when I try to copy some files from the HDD to the SSD the copy speed suddenly drops to 0kb/s and is useless to try to acces the disk anymore.

What can it be, is it because the side sata port isn't fast enough for a HDD? I have tried other HDDs and even the actual SSD that today I'm using as my main drive, and everytime I got the same issue.

Thank you very much in advance.

Cheers

Hi Just purchased acer (i7 7500U, No SSD) with 4GB RAM the system was too slugish so i have decided to add more ram the originally installed ram is PC4 kingston 2400. but when i use the task manager it shows 2133MHz clock speed so should i buy 2133 DDR4 or 2400 as one is already installed.

Also it says to make ram run faster u need xmp profile and this needs to be changed in bios. but i think the bios is locked as i cannot see any advance options.

also i have updated BIOS 1.23v

Any sugestions???

Aspire E5-551G heavy CPU throttle

0
0

First of all, hello everyone. I'm new here and i signed up kind of as a last resort since i think i've tried pretty much everything i could find on the net, or i could think of.

To keep it short, the laptop has an A10-7300 APU which has a base clock of 1.9Ghz. Now, every time the dGPU (R7 M265) is tapped into it instantly downclocks to 1.1Ghz. Turbo Core still works though, and i get short bursts so the average frequency is a bit higher than that but it roughly does 1.3Ghz, which i find unacceptable.

Overheating is out of the question, i have modified the cooling (basically i'm forcing air through the intake vents, i don't want to void the warranty - yet) and they NEVER reach 70ºC, both GPU and CPU. Before doing it, the dGPU tended to throttle down to 400Mhz at ~76 ºC while the system fan wasn't full on but that's another story. So i must insist that heat is out of the question, i can get it to run even cooler by pushing in more air.

Here's a snapshot of a gaming session so you can exactly get a picture of what i'm complaining about:

https://imgur.com/a/GNmbg

Obviously, there's no settings in the BIOS menu for thermal management - and that's OK, if you get what you pay for. A 1.9Ghz part in this particular case. But i got a crippled down system instead.

Any kind of feedback would be welcome before i decide to keep returning it until i get my money back. Nevermind buying or recommending Acer again.

EDIT: Yes, i'm running the latest BIOS, which almost bricked my R7 when flashing it from windows (really Acer, windows only?) with a display hooked to the VGA port.

EDIT #2: I'll post later an example of the same throttling when the CPU is maxed out instead of the GPU so you can see see it's just the same.

Here it is. To cut the system some slack i just ran prime95, the dGPU was disabled. It barely does 1.6Ghz with a 10+ ºC thermal margin.

ES1 131 Red and Black wires and round black end part adhesive

Hi
Does anyone know what the black and red wires and the round black ending to them are as ringed in this picture of my acer ES1 131 notebook are just below the wifi adapter? (I think other models may have the same thing)

es1 131 .jpg

In my computer, as seen in the picture below, the sticky pad holding the round black part at the end of the wires has become detached with the sticky part left on the surace it was attached to - does this part need to be stuck down? Is it just to keep it out of the way?
If I was to replace the adhesive pad would it need to be a particular type for example heat resistant?

Thanks

Aspire E5-575G-51GB DVD replacement with HDD

Good morning,

I'm writing from Italy, I own a new Aspire E5-575G-51GB and I found this thread looking for information about the thickness of the DVD player because I would like to replace the player with a secondary HDD (I already have a SDD and I don't want to buy an M.2 one) and I need to buy the right frame but I don't find any info if it's 9mm, 9.5mm or 12.7mm.

Reading this thread I just suppose it's 9mm but the model is not extact the same and I want to be sure. Smiley Happy

The italian support (also the technical one) didn't tell me nothing useful, so I try this forum that seems me better.

Another question, to extract the drive e refix the frame I only need to remove the screw near the driver or all the bottom cover?

regards

Consistent boot to black screen from my Aspire E5-573 N15Q1

Well, my laptop has been working well for 2 years and then I decided to start optimizing it.

  • I watched a bunch of youtube videos to guide me in turning off a bunch of unnecessary programs and downloaded ccleaner to defragment and clean out useless files.
  • Computer was running so fast for a few months, but then I decided to tick a few more options than I should have during the ccleaner run, namely I remember ticking the old.windows option and afew others.
  • I restart the computer and it shows the Acer logo, then boots to a black backlit screen.
  • I press alt+F10 to try the many recovery options but none of them worked, not even full factory reset
  • I tried installing windows media creation tool from a flash drive and the computer didnt even read it.

Now I am here, is there anything else I can do? Also I overclocked a few weeks ago (I have experience wth it so I'm pretty sure that wasn't the cause)

DVD drive/HDD caddy for E5-575T-58WH

Hello, I recently got my girlfriend a E5-575T-58WH laptop. I found out yesterday that there is no CD/DVD drive that comes with the unit and I am looking at the option of putting an optical drive in it, or putting a Hard drive caddy in it. As it is a Canadian version I am having a very hard time finding part numbers for the drive. Will any e5 series drive fit, or does it need to be a e5-575 specific one? any info would be appreciated. (P.S. is the e5-575 a renamed model of anything else like the 571 because it is the canadian version? thank you)
